RCMS has scheduled several transition activities for both students and parents. As your child transitions from 5th grade to 6th grade, Ridgeview looks forward to showing you all the great things about their school. Please mark your calendars for these important events.

Scheduling 101 for Parents - February 20th, 6pm at RCMS gym
- An educational session to help parents be informed about the scheduling process, course offerings including some new math and CTAE components, and how parents can give input into these processes. Last year this was one of the most popular parent education evenings, so please plan to attend!

Parent Panel - March 10th, 7:45am at HFE
- Principal Blackwell will be joining existing Ridgeview parents in the cafeteria for a question and answer session and RCMS PTA will have spirit wear available for purchase.

Rising 6th Grade Student Social - April 24th, 5pm in the RCMS cafeteria

-The student social is a unique opportunity for rising 6th graders to hear from current Ridgeview students about the 6th grade experience. In addition to dinner, student tours take place, and then students are all invited to attend opening night of the spring musical which begins at 6:00 pm. Parents are welcome to come meet other rising 6th grade parents while your child participates in this event.

Please note: This event is open to private school and feeder school families who will attend Ridgeview next year.

Rising 6th grade student field trip to RCMS - May 13th, 9am in the RCMS gym

-Ridgeview hosts students from Heards Ferry, High Point, Lake Forest, Spalding, and Woodland on an in-person “field trip” to Ridgeview to see school in action, to meet administrators and teachers, and to take a tour of the school. Please stay tuned for specific trip information and details from your elementary school. Please note: This event is only open to our feeder elementary school students.

Rising 6th grade Parent Night - May 14th, 6pm in the RCMS cafeteria

-Administration, counselors, and teachers will overview the Ridgeview curriculum and experiences with specific information to cater to rising 6th grade parents. A “day in the life of a 6th grader” will be discussed so that transition to middle isn’t a mystery! Contact Ms. Yancey, 6th Grade Guidance Counselor, if you have any questions at 470-254-8576.

Please note: This event is open to private school and feeder school families who will attend Ridgeview next year.

Make up session for the Rising 6th grade Parent Night (in Spanish) - May 15th, 9:30am in room 236

-This will be an informal session for Parents/Guardians of rising 6th grade students who could not attend the night time event on May 14th. Ms. Good, our Title I Parent Liaison, will be available to answer any questions for more information. Contact Ms. Good at 470-254-8589.

Please note: This event is open to private school and feeder school families who will attend Ridgeview next year.

Rising 6th Grade Summer Bridge (only attend ½ day) - July 31st, 8:30-11:30am or 12:30-3:30pm

-Summer Bridge will be an opportunity for entering 6th graders to have a Ridgeview experience for a 3-hour mini camp. Certified Ridgeview teachers and school staff will teach students the rules and procedures of the school, will work with iPads, will practice lockers, and more.
