STEM Day - April 27th
4/20/2018 9:23 am
STEM Day is Friday, April 27th! We need lots of volunteers across all grade levels to make this day of hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) learning a success. Exciting projects are planned that will enable students to engineer, test and collect data, and then re-engineer their projects based on results. It is a day full of fun and experimentation! If you are interested in volunteering to help at one of the sessions, please see the signup list HERE.
Food Drive April 24 - 26th!
4/20/2018 9:23 am
HFE is collecting non-perishable food for the CAC during morning carpool/bus drop-off Tuesday 4/24 through Thursday 4/26. Last year our school donated 3,902 pounds of food and we won the award for "Most Food Donated by a School." Let's do it again as we fight hunger in our community!
Please sign up to serve HERE, and bring your kids. It's a great way to serve as a family!
Media Center Update
4/19/2018 10:32 am
The last day to return books to the Media Center is Friday, May 4. What's under your sofa or buried in that pile of May To Dos on your desk? Please check around your house for HFE books and return them to the Media Center to avoid any fees.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to help scan books for inventory. During the final weeks of school, Ms. Severson and Mrs. Epps will begin the monumental task of checking the Media Center's inventory. After all books are ordered on the shelves, volunteers are needed May 14-18th to scan them into inventory. Think back to how quick and easy it was to create your wedding registry wish list! Please CLICK HERE to sign up for a shift (bored spouses or in-laws optional). Thank you for all of your help and support this year!

HFE’s Volunteer of the Year: Caroline Donohue
4/8/2018 9:30 pm
There are few parents at HFE who have been as consistently present as Caroline Donohue. Caroline has volunteered in virtually every capacity from room parent to helping the fifth grade fund raise for their class legacy gift. She has been the chairperson of our very popular International Day (Caroline’s passion) for several years and has chaperoned her two children’s field trips every year they were at HFE. As the signature on her email says ‘always with a smile,’ and that is how she spends her time at school. Caroline’s youngest child is in 5th grade this year. We will all miss her and her incredible dedication to our school.
Mural for HFE!
4/8/2018 8:41 pm
The Eagle Alliance, led by HFE parent Tracy Lurey and HFE art teacher Ms. Strom, has commissioned local artist Lela Brunet to paint a colorful, whimsical mural on the large concrete wall behind the school. So as not to take away from the Eagle Alliance donations made toward our existing academic programs and events, the money raised at the Parent Party auction will be used to fund the mural.
The students were able to vote on their favorite from several options presented by Lela. See the below rendering for the winner!
The wall will be primed by volunteers during Hands on HFE on April 21, and Lela will be painting in May.
