Autumn Adventure - October 21st

No pre-order accepted after Friday October 12th. All wristbands will be sent home with your child on Thursday, October 18th. Wristbands are all access this year and will include everything - no additional tickets necessary! We have lots of exciting activities planned including:

* a fun family trunk or treat

* backyard lawn games

* inflatables

* swing ride

* DJ

* grade level costume contests with prizes

* photo booth

* bring cash for food vendors and jail

Ticket prices:

Under 3 years old free

In advance - $15 EA member, $20 non-EA member

At the door - everyone is $20

Teacher/Staff Gift Fund

New this year you can contribute your family’s teacher and staff gift donation(s) online! Parents are encouraged to contribute a donation per student. The suggested amounts are $30 for grades 1 – 5 and $40 for grades PK – K. Your contribution(s) will cover gifts for winter holiday and end of year for:

  • Your child’s/children teacher
  • Specials teachers (Art, Media Center, Music, Spanish and P.E.) 
  • Our beloved custodial, cafeteria and other HFE staff members

IB Celebration September 28th!

We are excited to celebrate receiving our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme Accreditation! Coming up next Friday, September 28th:

~ Have your student wear a blue or white shirt - the official colors of IB.

~ Service and Outreach will be collecting travel size shampoo, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes. Please send these to school with your child!

~ Live entertainment will be provided by Cafe Jam for students during lunchtime.

~ We are having an afternoon dance party complete with a DJ, international music and a visit from a special someone.

Lunch Bunch - Our smallest Eagles can use a little bit of help navigating the lunch line, opening containers and getting straws, napkins and more.

School Store - The School Store is open Monday - Thursday for students purchase items.

Media Center - Volunteers will be shelving, checking in books, and helping students find books

Hearing and Vision Screening - Assist the speech teachers in giving the hearing and vision tests with the audiometers and vision charts on October 2nd.

Garden Days - Assist in the HFE garden on specific days throughout the year. 

Autumn Adventure - Event Volunteers and Trunk or Treat for October 21st event. 

Chick-fil-A Spirit Night September 25th!

Please join us on Wednesday, September 26th at 7:45-8:45 AM as Ben Halpert, founder of Savvy Cyber Kids, will talk about internet safety both at school and home and how to stay up-to-date in an effort to keep kids, of all ages, aware and safe in this digital age. Ben will discuss the latest trends, apps and hidden dangers on the internet. By day, Ben is a a VP of Risk and Corporate Security at a data privacy and security company in Atlanta and by night, he promotes cyber ethics education via his nonprofit organization, Savvy Cyber Kids, which he started in 2007. In addition to authoring an award winning book series about internet safety, he has also appeared on numerous media outlets including CNN, HLN, Fox News, ABC, and Good Day Atlanta.

HFE is an IB Certified School

We are very proud to announce that we were informed by IB International that Heards Ferry Elementary is an official IB Primary Years Programme Certified School!!!!! After 5 years of hard work and dedication from the staff, students and community, we have earned this distinguished title. It is a very exciting time for not only our school but also for our community. Along with our school, High Point Elementary and Lake Forest Elementary have also been certified. Therefore, the Riverwood cluster of schools is a PK-12 feeder pattern of IB schools. Our cluster includes Heards Ferry Elementary, High Point Elementary, Lake Forest Elementary, Ridgeview Middle School and Riverwood High School. We are the first cluster in Fulton County Schools to be an IB cluster. We could not be more proud to be a Heards Ferry Eagle! Thank you for your commitment to our school. We could not have done this without all of your dedication.

HFE International Inquirers

During the month of September, HFE students will expand their knowledge about the geography regarding their country of study. They will explore physical features, such as mountains, deserts, rivers and oceans. They will also inquire about the various ways people affect and are affected by the natural world. Research will be placed in the hallway to create interest and drive inquiry.

Birthday Book Club!

Digital Citizenship Parent Coffee Q&A

Sarah Severson, Media and Educational Technology Instructor, will be hosting a Digital Citizenship Informational Coffee and Q&A for parents. Sign-up begins Sept. 4th by clicking HERE with room for 30 attendees per session. Sessions will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 9:30-10:30am and Friday, Oct. 19 from 9:00-10:00am in the Media Center. Don’t worry…if you are unable to attend, you can view it at a later date on the school website. Parent resources will also be posted for your reference!

Volunteer Training for 2018/2019 School Year

All persons wanting to volunteer in the Fulton School District will need to fill out a NEW application and take the online Sex Abuse Protocol Training. This application and process will be valid for the period of June 2018 until June 2020. We renew all volunteers on a two year basis.

Click HERE to complete the volunteer process for the 2018/2019 school year. You will not be able to volunteer in a classroom until this training has been completed.
